SRE Senior / Lead Platform Engineer (IT) / Freelance

Job summary

Lead technical transformations for a multi-client SaaS IoT platform running 24/7 on Azure and a sovereign cloud. Responsibilities include migrating infrastructure to Infrastructure as Code, replacing Oracle with PostgreSQL, improving messaging and observability with SLI/SLOs, dashboards, and alerting, and industrializing CI/CD. The role also covers platform operations, incident response, proactive security, FinOps, and maintaining the technical backlog and platform roadmap.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of IT experience, including 5 years in SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
• Experience operating multi-client SaaS platforms in production under service-level commitments.
• Experience completing an Infrastructure as Code transformation across an existing estate.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives end to end and bring a team along without hierarchical authority.
• SRE mindset focused on risk, measurement, reducing manual work, and systematic automation.
• Ability to defend technical positions with architecture, service providers, and management.
• Cost awareness and ability to balance ideal solutions with sustainable options.
• Expert-level Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes operations, messaging, and observability skills.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or TimescaleDB and cloud FinOps.
• Fluent French and English.
• Experience with a sovereign cloud or private cloud with a restricted service catalog is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Migrate production and non-production environments to Infrastructure as Code across both cloud platforms.
• Lead the migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL.
• Improve messaging systems and data platforms.
• Implement observability, including SLI/SLOs, dashboards, and alerting.
• Industrialize CI/CD pipelines and maintain parity between production and preproduction.
• Reduce platform costs through FinOps practices.
• Lead security hardening, secrets and certificate management, vulnerability and end-of-life monitoring, and penetration-test remediation.
• Maintain the technical backlog and platform roadmap.
• Operate the platform and handle incidents according to service levels.
