Job summary
The Staff DevOps Software Quality Automation Architect at General Motors will define technical direction and lead complex initiatives to enhance software quality automation across engineering teams. The role requires deep expertise in CI/CD, test automation, and tooling integration to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD, software quality automation, or engineering productivity tooling
- Strong experience in designing and implementing scalable automation frameworks and internal tooling solutions
- Demonstrated success in leading complex initiatives across multiple teams or organizations
- Experience with system-test enablement, quality measurement, and tooling strategy
- Strong systems-thinking and architecture capability
- Experience operating independently in ambiguous environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Proven ability to identify improvement opportunities and solve complex technical problems
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision for DevOps and Software Quality Automation tooling
- Architect and evolve tooling that connects requirements, BTS generation, script generation, test execution, coverage feedback, and software quality reporting
- Lead large cross-functional initiatives to improve test effectiveness, efficiency, traceability, and system-test readiness
- Design and implement scalable CI/CD and automation solutions to enhance engineering productivity and feedback quality
- Support the transition of System Testing into ART ownership
- Establish and improve tools and workflows for end-to-end traceability from requirements to validation outcomes
- Partner with teams to align tooling roadmaps, priorities, and adoption strategies
- Identify gaps in quality tooling and create solutions to improve coverage and signal quality
- Define and track KPIs related to tool adoption, test coverage, and strategic quality outcomes
- Serve as a subject matter expert for software quality automation and DevOps tooling
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams
