Job summary

The Staff DevSecOps Specialist plays a crucial role in shaping the security engineering landscape across various teams, including Site Reliability Engineering and Developer Experience. This position involves owning the architecture of Cloudflare edge security, leading the Wiz cloud security program for AWS and Kubernetes, and implementing preventive guardrails in code through Terraform and CI/CD security testing.

• Extensive hands-on experience in DevSecOps, cloud security engineering, or platform and SRE work
• Deep expertise securing AWS at scale
• Deep command of container and Kubernetes security
• Production experience owning a WAF and edge security platform
• Strong software engineering ability in Python, Go, or a comparable language
• Deep hands-on Terraform experience
• Experience designing CI/CD security enforcement
• Strong application security fundamentals
• Detection engineering experience with a modern SIEM
• Fluency working AI-natively
• Ability to reason about real risk rather than scanner severity
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across an engineering organization

Responsibilities

• Contribute to defining the multi-year technical roadmap for security engineering
• Own the architecture and operation of Cloudflare edge security
• Own cloud and container security architecture with SRE
• Establish preventive guardrails in code
• Own the vulnerability management program as a system
• Lead detection engineering in support of the SOC
• Lead threat modelling and security design reviews
• Build the technical control automation for SOC 2, HIPAA, and customer assurance
• Mentor and level up engineers inside and outside the security team
