Job summary

A Staff or Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer owns the bare-metal layer that turns physical servers across multiple data centers into healthy, secure, tenant-assignable Kubernetes nodes. The role leads automated provisioning, OS and firmware lifecycle, datacenter networking, Kubernetes substrate operations, datacenter bring-up, and hardware incident response, using technologies such as PXE/iPXE, Metal3, Ironic, BGP, RoCE, Cilium, Karpenter, Terraform, and GitOps.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of production infrastructure experience, including 3 or more years owning bare-metal lifecycle at scale.
• Strong datacenter networking fundamentals, including BGP, leaf-spine networks, MTU, congestion control, and fabric debugging.
• Production Kubernetes operations experience, including cluster bring-up, CNI internals, and fleet upgrades.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform and Helm, and with GitOps.
• On-call experience supporting fleets of physical machines.

Responsibilities

• Automate server provisioning and manage OS images, BIOS, firmware, and BMC fleets.
• Manage datacenter networking fabrics, including BGP, ECMP, RoCE, congestion control, traffic isolation, IPAM, and switch automation.
• Operate Kubernetes host clusters, including cluster bring-up, CNI, capacity management, fleet upgrades, and GitOps.
• Automate new datacenter bring-up from rack installation to production capacity.
• Coordinate hardware fault response, maintenance windows, and on-call operations with datacenter field staff.
• Represent physical infrastructure needs in platform design discussions.
