Job summary

The Data Protection & Storage Staff Platform Engineer is tasked with managing and optimizing the enterprise cyber backup and recovery infrastructure. Responsibilities include administering a Commvault environment, conducting root cause analysis of backup failures, automating backup tasks with scripting tools like Python and PowerShell, and ensuring compliance with data protection policies.

Qualifications

• Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations
• Strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets
• Experience with scripting and automation tools
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards
• Any experience as a Platform Engineer or in a similar role
• Expertise / experience / familiarity across a broad area of technologies

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain a Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure
• Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilization proactively
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks
• Provide support and mentor junior engineers
• Ensure adherence to data retention and protection policies
• Maintain detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and DR plans
• Design and test disaster recovery strategies
• Automate routine backup tasks using scripting tools
