Staff Platform Engineer - Core

Job summary

Leads platform engineering initiatives that provide teams with the infrastructure and tooling to deploy and operate core services. The role designs and improves AWS cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, observability, automation, and internal developer tools, while strengthening reliability and operational practices. It also guides technical direction, coordinates complex projects, and mentors engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex initiatives and contributing to team strategy.
• Ability to break complex work into milestones and deliver predictably using agile practices.
• Strong software engineering background, including backend development and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of AWS and cloud-native architectures.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform or CloudFormation, and automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer productivity tooling.
• Production expertise with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of observability, including logging, metrics, and tracing, and experience improving reliability.
• Experience with incident management and operational practices for large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and platform security concepts.
• Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate complex topics clearly, and influence engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex initiatives from architecture and design through deployment and continuous refinement.
• Design, maintain, and implement scalable platform services, CI/CD systems, automation, and infrastructure.
• Improve observability through logging, metrics, and alerting to strengthen reliability and incident response.
• Partner with application and platform teams to improve performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud-native environments.
• Participate in incident response, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
• Promote infrastructure, software delivery, and operational best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.
