Job summary

This internship focuses on extending KOMET, an experimental static-analysis tool that derives behavioral models from Kubernetes operators written in Go. The work involves adding support for missing Go SSA concurrency, synchronization, and type-conversion instructions, then evaluating the extensions on Kubernetes operators and comparing results with the existing tool. The intern will also document the changes and prepare an evaluation report.

Qualifications

• Final-year computer engineering student or pursuing a degree at Bac +5 level
• Programming experience with Go and Python
• Familiarity with Linux, Git, and open-source development
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Technical English proficiency and ability to analyze English-language documentation
• Knowledge of specification languages and formal methods is an asset
• Prior experience with static code analysis is an asset

Responsibilities

• Identify Go SSA instructions not supported by KOMET, including concurrency, synchronization, and type-conversion instructions
• Specify and implement extensions to KOMET's static analysis of Go code
• Evaluate the extensions on Kubernetes operators that use the newly supported instructions
• Analyze the impact of the extensions
• Document the extensions and report evaluation results against KOMET's pre-extension results
