System Administrator 2 - (Linux, Kubernetes, Ansible)

Job summary

The System Administrator 2 role is responsible for supporting the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems, including client/server/storage/network devices. Key responsibilities include managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem resolution, and optimizing system operations, with a strong emphasis on Linux and basic experience with Kubernetes and Ansible.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux background
• Fiercely independent, self-starter; good at taking tasks to ground until hitting actual roadblocks
• Comfortable SSHing to servers, port forwarding/SSH tunneling
• Basic experience using/troubleshooting Ansible playbooks/roles
• Basic understanding of system provisioning technologies
• Basic scripting experience (not language specific)
• Basic experience administering/supporting Virtual Machine (VM) environments
• Basic experience working with Linux central authentication technologies

Responsibilities

• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
• Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
• Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
• Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices
• Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
• Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
• Provide in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets
• Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remain involved in the resolution process
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems and install/load operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
