Job summary

The System Administrator position at Technische Universität Darmstadt involves planning, procuring, installing, managing, and maintaining hardware and software for network infrastructure and office use.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational training or comparable qualification with professional experience
• Experience in administering a heterogeneous network of Linux servers and Linux, MacOS, and Windows client systems
• Knowledge of scripting and shell programming, basic knowledge of Python, HTML, Java, network protocols, and IT security
• Experience in software development under Linux using version control systems
• Expertise in artificial intelligence and experience with modern AI tools
• Skills in 3D printing, including use of 3D software and maintenance of devices
• Skills in DevOps processes and knowledge of hypervisor technologies
• Experience with Jira and Zendesk
• Fluency in German and English

Responsibilities

• Plan, procure, install, manage, and maintain hardware and software for network infrastructure and office use
• Lead procurement processes for hardware and software
• Configure server and network infrastructure and provide network services
• Ensure network security
• Act as a contact for technical matters and support staff with modern IT, hardware, and AI-based systems
• Assist with client systems
• Coordinate with the university's computing center and collaborating departments
• Support the establishment of local high-performance computing infrastructure
• Contribute new ideas and concepts to scientific processes and continuously develop network infrastructure
