Job summary

EMCO is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Engineering Directorate at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The role is responsible for performing IT systems support in engineering and laboratory environments.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
• Advanced system administration experience with Linux, Mac, and Windows
• Experience with scripting and command line
• Experience performing system backups
• Ability to work independently and satisfy customer needs with minimal direction
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
• Ability and willingness to communicate tasks and concepts to others
• Strong communication and customer relations skills
• Good documentation skills
• Understanding of IT security best practices
• Understanding of storage systems including SAN, NAS, RAID, NFS, and LUNs
• Understanding of basic networking concepts
• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience
• Existing Public Trust clearance
• NASA experience
• Experience supporting research computing operations environments
• Experience with enterprise virtualizations such as VMware ESXi / vCenter
• Experience with hybrid cloud implementation and cloud migration
• Experience with Kubernetes implementation and security configuration
• Experience with Ansible playbook development in a collaborative environment using Git or Gitlab repositories

Responsibilities

• Provide end-user support for Linux, Mac, and Windows workstations
• Install and configure complex scientific software packages
• Proactively monitor, analyze, and correct system issues
• Maintain system backups
• Resolve system security issues, including patching, risk analysis, and security plans
• Assist with monitoring and management of storage systems
• Perform Linux and Windows server administration
• Provide end-user support by tracking and resolving issues via a ticketing system
• Develop and maintain system documentation
