Job summary

The Systems Administrator is tasked with designing, building, and maintaining the operational effectiveness and security of the university’s servers, storage, and data centers. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting complex server issues, specializing in storage, backup, virtualization, and security, and providing expert guidance on Linux and Windows systems while leading infrastructure projects. This role requires a commitment to 24/7 operational support.

Qualifications

• at least three years of experience in system administration in a large enterprise or academic environment
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems
• In-depth experience with administrating multiple Windows server applications
• Expert knowledge of RedHat Enterprise and/or Ubuntu Linux
• In-depth experience administrating multiple Linux server applications
• High degree of attention to detail
• Expert level of problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Ability to take initiative and work with limited direction
• Ability to mentor and train technical staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships

Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex server software and hardware issues.
• Specialize in storage, backup, virtualization, security, and applications.
• Provide expert guidance on Linux and Windows systems.
