Job summary
Block is seeking a Tech Lead for its Business Platform Engineering team to oversee the architectural vision and consolidation of platform systems across various operational domains.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Deep experience consolidating and simplifying complex service architectures
- Strong systems design and architecture skills
- Experience building or operating automation, workflow orchestration, or case management systems
- Track record of driving technical strategy across organizational boundaries
- Fluency in designing for scalability, reliability, and governance
- Experience with AI/ML pipeline integration or event-driven architectures
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Comfort navigating ambiguity across multiple domains
Responsibilities
- Own the architectural vision for Bizplat's platform systems
- Drive service consolidation by identifying redundant, overlapping, or underutilized services
- Design and build core platform capabilities
- Lead technical planning and execution for high-priority cross-cutting initiatives
- Set and enforce engineering standards for system design
- Partner with Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) teams
- Make hard architectural tradeoffs
- Mentor and elevate engineers across the organization
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Risk Ops, Customer Ops, Sales Ops, Finance, and Hardware
