Test Automation Engineer

Job summary

The QA Automation Engineer builds and maintains reliable automated tests for complex web applications, using sound testing principles and AI-assisted development to improve quality and delivery speed. The role includes creating Playwright test suites in TypeScript or JavaScript, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, evaluating AI-generated tests, investigating defects and flaky tests, and collaborating with engineering and product teams on customer workflows in business management software.

Qualifications

• Practical experience developing automated web application tests with Playwright.
• Good programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience testing modern, dynamic web interfaces.
• Understanding of end-to-end, regression, and functional testing and test design.
• Experience using AI coding assistants in software development or test automation.
• Ability to review AI-generated code and identify incorrect assumptions or coverage gaps.
• Experience with Git and pull request workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of Agile software development and secure testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated end-to-end tests using Playwright.
• Build test coverage for complex web application workflows and customer journeys.
• Create maintainable test suites using TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Use AI coding assistants to generate, refine, and maintain automated tests.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate defects, test failures, and flaky automation; provide actionable feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers and product colleagues to understand requirements and expected behavior.
• Improve test frameworks, automation practices, and team productivity.
