Test Automation Engineer

Job summary

The QA Automation Engineer develops reliable automated testing for complex web applications and customer workflows, using AI-assisted engineering to strengthen software quality and accelerate delivery. The role includes building Playwright tests in TypeScript or JavaScript, integrating test suites into Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD pipelines, assessing AI-generated tests, investigating defects and flaky runs, and collaborating with engineering and product teams. The work supports ERP and business management software for distributive trade and related industries.

Qualifications

• Practical experience developing automated web application tests with Playwright.
• Good programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience testing modern, dynamic web interfaces.
• Demonstrable experience using AI coding assistants in software development or test automation.
• Ability to assess AI-generated code for incorrect assumptions, incomplete coverage, and unreliable tests.
• Experience with Git and pull request workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, ideally Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of Agile software development and secure testing practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Playwright end-to-end tests for web applications and business workflows.
• Build maintainable test suites using TypeScript or JavaScript and robust locators, assertions, and reusable components.
• Prioritize automation using risk-based testing principles.
• Use AI coding assistants to generate, refine, and maintain tests, and validate that generated tests reflect expected behavior.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD pipelines.
• Investigate defects and test failures, and reduce flaky execution and maintenance overhead.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and QA colleagues on requirements, testability, and quality risks.
• Improve test frameworks, automation coverage, and team practices, and share effective AI testing techniques.
