My professional job designation has been Software Engineer, therefore I mostly write code that fleshes out the business logic. In my very first job there used to be an "infrastructure team" and we would share the WAR files with them for release and they were responsible for deploying every few weeks during release cycles. If there was a bug and you needed to send out a fix or a new feature that had to go out immediately, heaven help you! So when I was introduced to CI/CD, safe to say mind blown! Since then I've seen the lines blur between being a developer and building out the infrastructure and frankly I love it. I have built out AWS infrastructure with CDK and Terrafor as well as deployed applications on pre-built Jenkins pipelines. While my focus has remained application development, I have picked up the knowledge and skills needed to excel in a devOps role. I am currently learning kubernetes and plan to get certified.
