I started my DevOps Engineer journey after working as a Java Engineer for three years. I have also been involved in the SDLC process as a Business Analyst for three years as well. But coming back to developing Java Application development after being a Business Analyst, I got the opportunity to do some Java and DevOps work at a company I worked for. This was my first exposure to DevOps related work and I realised that this is what I want to do and started my DevOps Engineer career from there and it has been two years since then and I must say that it has been the best decision I made in terms of my career. After deciding to work as a DevOps Engineer I moved to the current company I am working in now and I got the exposure to work heavily with AWS (ECS, EKS), Azure (Web Apps, AKS), Digital Ocean (DOKS), Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps pipelines heavily. I've been working on configuring and managing infrastructure on a daily basis on using the above mentioned Cloud Providers and tools in Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments working along with the development team. One thing I really enjoy about DevOps is that I get to optimise the SDLC workflow and infrastructure costs, which I believe is paramount for any business. Being in such a role, another thing that I enjoy as a DevOps Engineer is the exposure I get to work with everyone. This helps me to have a clear idea of the SDLC process, which in turn helps me to get an idea about the pain points of all the teams that I am working with so that I can use my automation knowledge to automate any repetitive tasks. All in all, I really enjoy the responsibility that is held in this role.
