My DevOps story kicked off on the support desk where fixing production fires taught me that reliable delivery beats flashy features. I managed to put myself out there for the higher ups to see me by documenting myself and trying to come up with solutions and eventually got into actual code writing instead of fixing, but I found that CI/CD and the whole route that the code has to follow to eventually get put into the hands of the customers as a fully fletched application, all that semi/fully-automated is better that just simple coding.
