Hello, my name is Ozan Çakar. I graduated from İnönü University with a degree in Computer Engineering and a GPA of 3.09. During my university years, I gained solid knowledge in algorithms and programming languages. In the first semester of my senior year, I was introduced to DevOps through a program supported by instructors from ASELSAN, one of the leading defense industry companies in Turkey. I completed my long-term internship at the IT department of Yalova Municipality, where I focused on learning the Go programming language. After graduation, I started working at Golden Gateway Holding as a Junior DevOps Engineer. The company operates in multiple areas, but its main business focuses on visa processing and insurance services. Our software team provides the infrastructure and applications used by VFS Global in more than 20 countries for visa application centers. My main responsibilities include end-to-end setup, development, and maintenance of the DevOps infrastructure. I also serve as a Linux System Administrator, managing all Linux-based servers. Since there was only one DevOps engineer before me, I quickly adapted to the team and actively contributed to many innovations. These include: establishing and expanding the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) system using tools like Puppet; migrating production systems and dependencies (such as Redis, RabbitMQ, MinIO, ELK, and SQL services) from Docker to Kubernetes; building a new Kubernetes setup with Cilium for secure networking; enhancing observability using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana; migrating the Docker Registry to Harbor and standardizing image usage; and setting up SonarQube to promote code quality across the company. Over time, I’ve also improved my troubleshooting skills. I’ve learned to stay calm and provide effective solutions when issues arise in production environments.
