I have been a passionate DevOps Engineer for over 15 years. From my first introduction to CFengine in 2009, I was drawn into the promises of solely managing infrastructure through declarative code repositories. During my time at University of Florida, I led a major transition from CFengine to Puppet. Through this transition, I authored more than 20 custom Puppet modules to replicate the functionality that we had in the prior CFengine system. In my recent work, I have been focused on building modern container workflows in GitLab, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins. One such example is the end-to-end deployment of Internet2 COmanage in a high availabilty Docker Swarm cluster. One of the unique skills that I have is the ability to be both technical and explain concepts to stakeholders in terms of tangible business value. I have found that it is imperative to answer the question "Why are we doing this?". An experienced guide can help to build a roadmap and align to strategic goals. As had been said, "begin with the end in mind".
